About Summer Term
Boğaziçi University Summer Term
The Summer Term is an academic period conducted separately from the two regular semesters of an academic year and is held each year between mid-June and the first week of August.
Boğaziçi University Summer Term is a 7-week intensive program offering courses in Fine Arts, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences, Education, History, Linguistics, and Engineering. Within the scope of this program, more than 300 courses are offered every year, providing students with the opportunity to meet distinguished academics from both within the University and from Turkey and abroad.
At Boğaziçi University Summer Term, where the language of instruction is English, all courses are taught in English unless otherwise stated. During this academic period, students may take a maximum of 10 credits or 3 courses. Requests from special students for additional credits or courses are evaluated by the Summer Term Executive Board, while requests from BU students for additional courses are evaluated by the Faculty Administrative Board of their respective faculties.
All students registered for the Summer Term may benefit from all the social and cultural facilities of Boğaziçi University. These include an outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts on the South Campus; a football field, athletics track, and a fully equipped sports complex with a gym on the Uçaksavar Campus; and a semi-olympic indoor swimming pool on the Hisar Campus.
In addition, with the identification card (BU ID card) issued to participants during the Summer Term, students can use the library and benefit from campus facilities just like regular university students or instructors. Most importantly, participants can benefit from the education of Boğaziçi University—one of the leading universities in Turkey—while enjoying its unique historical atmosphere.
Accommodation needs of guest students and instructors for the Summer Term may also be met in accordance with availability and conditions.
